First of all, New Zealand is a member state of the European Union and as such, citizens of EU countries can travel to and work in New Zealand without a visa. Recent changes to New Zealand visa eligibility
New Zealand visa eligibility has changed recently, with a new online check-in system now in place. This system is designed to make the process of acquiring a New Zealand visa more streamlined and easier for applicants.
Previously, all visitors wishing to stay in New Zealand for longer than 3 months had to obtain a visa prior to arrival. However, from 1 January 2017, this requirement has been replaced by a online check-in process that requires all visitors over the age of 18 to submit their passport and visa application online.

Applicants who are unsuccessful on their first attempt can apply again up until 7 days before their planned departure date, provided they have received written confirmation from Immigration New Zealand that their original application was unsuccessful and provide evidence of additional funds if required
