The Indian government has recently streamlined the process for foreigners coming to India to get visas. This has made life easier for those who want to visit India, but are not Indian passport holders. In the case of Italian and Myanmar citizens, however, it may not be so easy.

What is a Visa?

Visa Types

There are two types of Indian visas available to citizens of Italy: the tourist visa and the business visa. How to Apply for an Indian Visa

There are different types of Indian visa depending on the country of origin of the applicant. In this article, we will discuss how to apply for an Indian visa for Italian citizens.

To apply for an Indian visa, you will first need to obtain a passport valid for at least six months beyond your planned stay in India. You will then need to visit the nearest consulate or embassy of India and complete an application form. The application can be completed in either English or Hindi. You will also be required to provide proof of travel insurance, a copy of your passport, and two recent photographs. After completing the application form, you will be required to pay a fee which varies depending on the type of visa you are applying for. If you are seeking a tourist visa, the fee is usually around $60 USD. If you are seeking a business visa, the fee is usually around $120 USD. Once your application has been accepted, you will receive a notification letter which will detail your next steps.

If you are travelling to India on an Indian visa and your passport has expired or is not valid for another six months beyond your planned stay in India, you will not be able to enter India and must return home before your visa expires. You may be able to apply for a temporary extension of your visa at any immigration office located inside or outside of India but this process can take up to three weeks and costs around $30 USD per day.

Requirements to Obtain an Indian Visa

To obtain an Indian visa, you will need to present a valid passport from your country of citizenship and a visa application form. The visa application form can be downloaded from the Indian embassy or consulate website. You will also need to provide your passport information and two photographs. The fee for a single-entry visa is $160 and for a multiple-entry visa is $240.

How to Apply for a Myanmar Visa

If you are an Italian citizen, you may be eligible for a visa to Myanmar. The procedure is as follows: First, you will need to obtain a tourist visa at your nearest Myanmar embassy or consulate. Next, you will need to apply for a visa at the Myanmar embassy or consulate in your home country. Finally, you will need to present your tourist visa and application form to immigration officials when entering Myanmar.

Requirements to Obtain a Myanmar Visa

As of October 1, 2014, the Indian Embassy in Myanmar has suspended all visa services for Italian citizens. The Embassy advises Italian nationals to apply for a visa at an Indian embassy or consulate in another country. According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, holders of an ordinary passport with at least six months validity from the date of issue are eligible to apply for a visa. Passports must have at least one blank page remaining and be in a clean and unused condition. Applicants must provide their full name, date of birth, nationality, passport number and contact details (including email address) to the visa officer. The application form must also be accompanied by a passport-sized photograph and two copies of the applicant’s travel document(s). A fee is payable for visas and depends on the type of visa requested. For applications made online through the Ministry’s website, a processing fee of INR 500 (US$8) is payable as well as an additional service charge amounting to INR 100 (US$2.50). The Indian Embassy in Yangon does not currently offer any visa services for Myanmar citizens.

To obtain a tourist visa valid for up to six months, an applicant must present evidence that he or she will leave Myanmar upon completion of his or her visit and that no other visit is planned during that period.
